The emergence of Ian Dixon as one of Western Australia's foremost glass artists followed his landmark exhibition, ‘Kindred Spirits' at the, then Craftwest Gallery (now FORM) in 1996. In this, his fourth solo exhibition at Gallery East, Ian Dixon continues his compelling vision in kiln formed glass, using the dynamic properties of slumped glass as a conduit for light and colour to create works which are visually bold, luscious and gutsy.

Four Seasons, comprises a series of wall pieces, large bowls and dishes which reflect the colours and textures of the seasons: they speak of the fresh new growth in spring, the intricate pattering of summer blossoms, the brilliant red autumn foliage and the tracery of the leaves as they break down in winter. Combining the abstracted patterns and rhythms within this body of the work, together with the inherent reflective qualities of glass, these sculptural pieces both evoke and incorporate the play of light.
