In
FRESH FISH, his solo exhibition in 2006 Paul
Moncrieff took as the motif an archetypal fish
form floating within the boundaries of the support.
The works are a response to his meanderings along
local Perth beaches.
"The
simple repetitive composition of these works has allowed
me to focus on formal elements of colour, texture
and edge. The larger works are further simplified,
leaving only the horizontal bands of colour referencing
the ever-changing mood of the ocean."
Paul Moncrieff recently retired as Senior Lecturer, Coordinator of
Painting at the School of Contemporary Arts, Edith
Cowan University, Mount Lawley, Western Australia.
