David Forrest CBE:



Director of Gallery East since 1992. David was a Board member and Chairman of the Artists Foundation of WA to May 2002. He is the Chairman of The Association of Western Australian Art Galleries (since 1994), and was a panellist for the ArtsWA grant assessment during 1995/96 and 2001/03. 

David has acquired a first hand knowledge of a wide range of the work of artists and craft practitioners currently working in Western Australia.

David is an authorised valuer for the Commonwealth Government's 'Cultural Gifts Program' for Japanese woodblock prints and books 1700-1939.



Jánis Nedéla:


 

Director of Gallery East since 1993. Jánis is a working artist who exhibits with Galerie Dusseldorf, Perth's foremost contemporary art gallery, and with Uber Gallery, Melbourne.

Jánis served on the curatorial staff of the Art Gallery of WA for 14 years to 1993 during which time he gained a comprehensive knowledge of the Art Gallery of Western Australia's collection as well as considerable skill in the mounting and display of art works.

He lectured in Art Management and Art History at the Central Metropolitan College of TAFE (Mt Lawley College and WA School of Art, Design and Media) for 7 seven years to 1996, and was Exhibition Programmes Manager for CRAFTWEST, Centre for Contemporary Craft, Perth 1996-1998, giving him an unrivalled knowledge of Western Australia's leading contemporary craft practitioners.

Jánis is an authorised valuer for the Commonwealth Government's 'Cultural Gifts Program' for Australian drawings, paintings, prints and sculptures after 1950, Australian studio glass and ceramics after 1950, British prints after 1940 and Japanese woodblock prints after 1940.
