Terrific scene of a battle in the snow during the Sino-Japanese War. At right, an officer in a black coat grips a Japanese flag as he shouts encouragement to his men, his sword in his hand. His troops rush forward through the snow in long brown overcoats, carrying guns with bayonets fixed. Shells explode in clouds of smoke as Chinese soldiers run for cover at left, a few fallen countrymen lying in the snow below.
