Where are you Alice

Coptic stitch bound etchings with raw silk

13.5 x 11cm

Shana James, writes: “In another moment Alice went down after [the white rabbit], never once considering how in the world she was to get out again.” Alice in Wonderland, Lewis Carroll (1865).
When Alice jumps into the rabbit hole, although she does not give it a great deal of thought, it is a decisive action, a choice to follow the rabbit. Once the choice is made to jump however, the fall must follow, you cannot stop mid-fall. While the jump is active, the fall is passive. Sometimes when a decision is made we can lose ourselves in the process of accepting this new version of ourselves. In this coptic bound artists book faded etchings gradually become stronger as Alice finds herself in the falling.
