A new tattoo state of (Yume no Ato), the 2006 commissioned design, Ho-o no Yume' (Phoenix Dream). It is the tattoo version of 'Yume no Ato'. Influenced by the work of Utamaro, the woman ,is in a diamond-shaped 'shobori' against a pale grey ground. There is a famous self-portrait of Utamaro painting a phoenix mural in Seiro Ehon Nenju Gyoji (A Picture-book of the Annual Events in the Yoshiwara) of 1804

The tattoo depicts a Kunisada design of the actor Ichikawa Danjuro VII, & the Binnie seal itself is incorporated in the Danjuro mon (crest)

The print is based on Hokusai's famous Waterfall series. A model stands beneath a flow of water, splashes of which are indicated by hand-applied 'gofun'.

Although blocks for this 'jigsaw' woodblock print were cut in 1997, he only got as far as printing test proofs while still living in Japan. In 2005, in his larger studio in London, Binnie produced a small edition of only twenty impressions, each with a full gold mica background and hand-applied color in the area of the tattoo, and available either with a separate woodblock printed fundoshi applique, or without.

The model for this print is the actor Kawasetsu Yu, the subject of an oil portrait completed by Binnie in 2002.

Kuniyoshi's pupil, Yoshitoshi's ghosts are adapted in the tattoo, the smoke & his seal. The smoke-spirit is printed in white lacquer & the hideous skull-head is formed from the letters of his name.
